Spring has arrived to Washington Park! The streets are lined with blossoming trees and flowers, restaurant terraces are staying open late into the evening, and summer is peaking its head around the corner. It’s time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. If you’re looking for something fun to do in the Washington Park Neighborhood, these upcoming activities may be just the thing!

Farmer’s Market.
If you live in Washington Park, you have two great farmer’s markets to choose from every weekend. On Saturdays until October 8th, check out the Cherry Creek Farmer’s Market on E. First Ave & University Blvd and stock up on artisanal pastas, local cheeses and fresh produce. Not to mention the wide array of prepared food, everything from biscuits to ice cream to gyros. On Sundays until November 2nd, take a short trip over to the 1500 block of Old Pearl Street and enjoy live music while shopping for local crafts and seasonal fruits and veggies.

Youth Fishing Derby
On June 10th, the Youth Fishing Pond at Washington Park will be filled with hundreds of delicious rainbow trout, just waiting to be snatched up. But sorry to break the bad news, this event is kids-only. Participants ages 6-15 will be provided with a pole and worms and let loose to fish at their heart’s desire. Best part about it, this activity is completely free! Pre-registration is required though and can be done at the Wash Park Rec Center.

Art Walks
On every 1st Friday of the month, you can stroll down South Pearl Street and visit local art galleries on the quest to find that next abstract painting to hang in your dining room, or just sip on complimentary wine and take in the sights. The monthly art walks continue until December, and are in various neighborhoods around the city, so be sure to check out all of them!
