“Denver Animal Control is responsible for the enforcement of laws relating to animals in the City and County of Denver. Our mission statement includes the protection of the public and the animals of Denver. We endeavor to do this through education and communication with the public as well as through the enforcement of city ordinances.

Our code investigators prefer voluntary compliance and finding positive solutions over enforcement of the law.”

The Division of Animal Control is also responsible for the following:

  • Animal leash law enforcement
  • Barking dog complaints
  • Pet adoption
  • Animal abuse
  • Pit bull ban enforcement
  • Rabies quarantine
  • Rabies testing for bats suspected of human contact
